A pioneering underwater film producer, photographer and author, Stan has been celebrated with five Emmy Awards. At the forefront of scuba diving since its inception, he has been inducted into the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame and was named a “Legend of the Sea” by Beneath The Sea in 2007. He has hosted SRI expeditions and dive tours to exotic destinations, bringing together a legacy of almost a half century in diving and film making.
Waterman was associate producer and underwater cameraman on the classic shark film, Blue Water, White Death. He was co-director of underwater photography on The Deep, and has produced documentaries for ABC’s “Spirit of Adventure” series and the “Expedition Earth” series on ESPN. He and his oldest son won the first father and son Emmy for the National Geographic Explorer production, Dancing With Stingrays.
